    Assasination of the Archduke
    The Archduke of Austria-Hungary was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip. He was assassinated in June of 1914, the day he went to Sarajevo. On the days the Archduke and his wife, Sophie, were there it was the day that they had became freed from Austria. Serbians weren't happy about them being there on this day. This is what sparks WW1.
  • First Battle of the Marne

    First Battle of the Marne
    This resulted in an allied victory against the Germany army. The battle was the culmination of the German advance into France and the pursuit of the Allied armies.
  • The Battle of Verdun

    The Battle of Verdun
    This is the longest battle during WW1 and is also the bloodiest. People consider this the greatest battle in world history. It went on from February to December, causing an estimated 700,000 missing and dead men.
  • British Prime Minister

    British Prime Minister
    David Lloyd George was a major player at the Paris Peace Confrence. This reordered Europe after the defeat in Germany.
  • Zimmerman Telegram

    Zimmerman Telegram
    Germany sent the Zimmerman Telegram to Mexico in a secretive way. This was to try and tempt Mexico to join the war. But this backfired because teh British intercepted and deciphered the coded message.

    The German government had commited and repeated acts of war against the US and the people of the US. This was resolved by the House of Representatives and the Senate.

    14 Points to Peace
    President Wilson had 14 points as a blue print for world peace that was used for peace negotiations. Wilson made proposals to ensure world peace in the future. An example of this would be a world orginization that would provide a system for collective security for all nations.
  • Germany on the Somme

    Germany on the Somme
    German forces cross the Somme river acheiving their first major goal of the major spring offensive, which had started three days earlier. The next day troops stormed across the river having its bridges captures before the French troops could distroy them.
  • Germanys Navy Mutinied

    Germanys Navy Mutinied
    Sailors in the German High Seas Fleet refused to obey an order to go to sea and launch one final attack on the British navy. With the war ending the German naval command decided to launch a last-ditch effort against the British in the North Sea in a desperate attempt to restore the German navy’s prestige.

    This is one of the peace treaties at the end of WW1. It helped end the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers.
