    By the start of the Yuan Dynasty ,founded by the Mongols,the Muslim population in China had grown significantly. This period lasted from 1271-1368. During this period the Mongols had removed and relocated hundreds of thousands of Muslim immigrants from Westerna and Central Asia by force to use in building the Empire The Muslims were made to be craftsman, artists, engineers, doctors, architects, astronomers and administrative offices to help grow the Empire.

    Ibn Battuta was a famous Muslim explorer who cam eto China in the mid 1400's. During his visit he describes a flourishing Muslim community. He received a spirited welcome from his fellow religious believers. In each town he found that Muslims had their own designated area for their Mosques and were honored and reapected by the Chinese.

    Following the Ming dynasty came to Qing Dynasty from 1644-1911. During this time period there was an emphasis on disorder and repression of the Muslims. This resulted in the supression and mass termination of Muslims.

    Afterthe Qing Dynasty fell in 1911, Sun Yat Sen established the Republic of China and Muslims were allowed to practice their faith once again.
