  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Americans and British line up in Lexington and ready to fight. No one knows who fired the first shot but it was the “Shot Heard Round the World.” British destroy the Americans in this war and Americans retreat. Americans go back to Concord and gathered tons of people and hid. The British troops marched back to Concord and the colonists took them out using guerrilla tactics. It was now 1-1 in the war.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    This war was a huge win for the Americans. Washington picked a hill to fight on which gave the Americans a huge advantage. He told his army to lie down so the British would think only a few troops were on the hill. Once the British came up the hill all of the Americans fired. They killed some British troops and retreated since they were playing a defensive war. This was excellent tactics from the Americans. Another win for the Americans.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    George Washington and his men did the least expected and attacked the Hessians during the holidays. George Washington crosses the Delaware and surrounded the Hessians. The Hessians surrendered and this win attracted a lot more people to join the Continental Army.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This was the turning point in the war. This was the first time the Americans and British saw each other on a flat ground. The British were over confident. They charged the colonists and they waited for them and stood their ground. The Americans won this battle. This battle changed the morale of lots of colonists that were doubtful of winning the war. A win in Saratoga also convinced European giants, France, to help America in the war.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    During this battle, the Americans used their geography to their advantage. The British and Cornwallis were gathering supplies at Yorktown. The French come in and sink all their ships and a battle breaks out. While the British and French are fighting Washington and his men surround the British and they are forced to surrender. This was the ending point in the war.
