    The First Fleet
    On May the 13 in 1788 the First Fleet of ships to carry people from England to Botany Bay sailed from Portsmouth. It arrived at Botany Bay on 18 January 1788.The First Fleet arrived in Sydney. The First Fleet is the name given to the 11 ships that left Great Britain, bound for Australia, on 13 May 1788. The ships arrived at Botany Bay between 18 and 20 January 1788. There were 767 males, 222 females and 41 children on the ships. The captain of the First Fleet was Captain Arthur Phillip.

  • Arthur Phillip

    Arthur Phillip was born in 1738 11 October and died in 1814 31 of August in Bath in England (aged 75). Arthur Phillip was the kid of Jacob and Elizabeth Phillip. Arthur Phillip was the first governor of New South Wales. He attended the Establishment of the poor boys in Greenwich which was a school for sons of seamen.     Gold Rush
    In 1848, gold was discovered in Ballarat in Victory on January the 24th, by James Marshall at Sutter’s Mill, Incoloma. People came for all around the world to find gold. The work was hard and many people gave up after a couple of months and came home still poor. Others were luckier and found hug nuggets worth more money than they’d ever imagined. Gold was valued from $12.00 to $35.00 an ounce.
  • Ned Kelly

    Born at Beveridge(Victoria) in 1855 into an Irish family. His full name is actually Edward Kelly. His dad was called John (Red) Kelly and his mum’s name was Ellen Quinn Kelly. He was famous for being a bushranger and having metal armour. On November 11th 1880, Ned Kelly was hanged in the Old Melbourne Gaol and he was only 25 years old.
