Lincoln was born on February 12,1809. He was born in a one room log cabin. The floor was made out of earth.

On Nov 04, 1842, Licoln got married to Mary Todd. She was a member of a large, wealthy Kentucky family, Mary was well educated.

Willie died in 1862 from a fever that had no cure. In 1850 edward died from lung disease before his fourth birth day. In 1871 Tad died after going to chicago. On July 16, 1882 Mary Todd Lincoln died from oldness.

In 1856, he tried to run for vice-president and failed. He had previously failed 4 other times in elections.He ran for the Illinois General Assembly once, the US Congress once, and the US Senate twice. All of those times he lost.

On November 19, 1863, Lincoln gave his famous speech. The speech was named the Gettysburg Address.

He decided that thanksgiving should be a holiday celebrated in november. Franklin Roosevelt decided that the holiday should be on the last thursdays each november in 1939.

In November 1864, Lincoln was elected for second term as president. So basically that just means that he would get to stay president 4 more years. He was from the republican party. The republic logo was an elephant shown in the picture.

Abraham Lincoln started the Secret Serves on April 14, 1865. That was also the day that he died later in the afternoon. He did not create the Secret Service to protect the president. The Secret Service didn’t start protecting the president till two more presidents were assaccened. It was created to stop the counterfeit money.

On April 14, 1865, Lincoln got shot in the back of his head at a play. He got shot by John Wilkes Booth during the intermission of the play when he was unprotected. He dies the next day across the street.

The Lincoln monument was dedicated on May 30 1922. The memorial was made finshed and also dedicated to Licoln on May 30, 1922
