  • Jackie Robinson Integrating Major League Baseball

    Jackie Robinson helped put African-Americans in the MLB. This was a stepping stone for the integration of blacks into other sports.

    This case invalidated the ban on interracial marriage in California. The first court case to do so.
  • Sweatt v. Painter

    Court case challenged the "separate but equal" doctrine from Plessy v Ferguson.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Overturned racial segregation in schools based soley on race because it can inhibits a child's ability to learn
  • Civil Rights Act of 1957

    Protected legal and voting rights for African-Americans. Lacked enforcement mechanisms
  • Executive Order 11063

    kennedy issues an order that there would be no more discrimination in federally funded housing projects
  • Equal Pay Act

    Made it so that employers had to pay all races equally, regardless of race and gender
  • Twenty Fourth Amendment

    Eliminated poll tax in federal elections
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    Gave black people the right to vote, and tried to eliminate racial discrimination, lots of federal supervision
  • Civil Rights Act of 1968

    Provided equal housing opportunities for any race, creed, or origin and made it illegal to intimidate or injure someone based solely on race
