Whiskey Rebellion
In 1791, Congress taxed all whiskey that had been made and slod in the U.S. Many farmers compared this to hated tax from Britain before bthe Revolution. In 1794, when they were trying to collect the tax the farmers durned down the home of a tax collector.They than began to angrily protest. Washington took charge and then sent a milita to Pennsylvania and the angry people scattered. The benefit of this rebellion was that it showed that taxing the whiskey was not acceptable in a republic. -
