Larry and Sergey Meet

Larry is looking to attend at Stanford for his Ph.D in computer science and is companied with tour guide, Sergey Brin, at his visit on campus. They didn't see eye to eye to say the least. Google's Autobiography

The Beginning of Backrub

The two become good friends and begin to work on a project called "Backrub". The main objective was being able to search the internet using keywords and putting the most crediable websites listed first. The two actually wanted to sell their idea to Yahoo but they did not offer enough for Lary and Sergey's taste.

Sep 15, 1997

Google is a Registered Domain

The name was changed to Google, refering to the word googol which is a hundred zeros. It was officially listed as a domain on the internet.

Feb 1, 1999

Google Expands

Google moves out of their garage office and into their own office space with their 8 employees.

Apr 1, 2004

Gmail is Created

Gmail is created making Google an email provider as well. This is a huge milestone because Google has expanded its service to multiple genres. Now, 425 million people have a Gmail account.
