  • John Locke

    John Locke
    While Locke did not directly influence the American Revolution, because it was after his time, he did have a greaqt affectt on our founding fathers. He was an English philosopher who came up with many of the ideas of our nation's government. He said, "Life, Liberty, and Estate" were all certain rights available to humans. He majorly influenced our country therefore he is a patriot.
  • George Washington

    George Washington
    George Washington was the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, which obviously makes him an avid patriot. He is known as one of the founding fathers of our country, and helped us win the revolutionary war with his leadership. He was in the Battle of Trenton after his famous crossing of the Delaware river. Washington passed away in December of 1799 after his precedency.
  • Paul Revere

    Paul Revere
    Paul Revere was an avid patriot, who pretty much worked as a spy. He was a silversmith so most British soldiers did not suspect him to be any real threat. He is known best for alerting the Minutemen that the British troops were coming. even though this event is usually overdramtic. Revere was one of the most important men of the revolution because he not only derived a system to keep track of the British troops, but he was ready to stand behind his cause n omatter what, Revere passed in May,1818
  • John Hancock

    John Hancock
    John Hancock was a very prominent patriot during the American Revolution. Hancock was the president of The Second Continental Congress, and is mostly remembered for his giant signature on the Declaration of Independence. He was one of the most well known and wealthy men in the 13 colonies, and many say that was the reason he was the first to sign the declaration. He eventually died in October of 1793.
  • Benedict Arnold

    Benedict Arnold
    Benedict Arnold was a general during the American Revolutionary War who originally fought for the American Continental Army. While he was a general on the American side he gained control of West Point, but then decided he would hand it over to the British. Once this was found out Arnold was exiled to the British. While Arnold posed as a patriot he was always a loyalist. Arnold is seen as one of the biggest traitors of all time and eventually died in June of 1801.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The stamp act was an act of British Parliament that was enacted to gain money back from the war. This duty was to be put on newspapers, legal dcuments, and even a deck of cards. This was the first direct tax, which meant that the buyers were being taxed. This Tax lead to mass hysteria and rebellion in the colonies against Britain, which inadvertantly led to THe American Revolution.

    Treaty of Paris 1763
    The Treaty of Paris forced France to give up almost all of their land which led to westward expansion of Americans. This also prevented the French from gaining power in the Americas. This helped the Americans establish themselves throughout the Americas as an independent nation.

    Valley Forge is a millitary camp used by the Continental army in southeatern Pennsylvannia. The camp was very cold and put the army through a lot of problems. These probelems helped us face adversity, but it also led to our mental strength of our Army.

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea party is one of the most famous acts of rebellion of all time. While many of the taxes were repealled the duty on tea was upheld. This led the Sons of Liberty to dress as Native Americans, and eventually board a boat full of Brtish tea and dump millions of dollars worth of tea into the Boston Harbor. This event led to confidence throughout the colonies that they have a real chance to fight back and earn independence.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    These battles were the first millitary engagements between the colonies and British of the revolutionary war. These battles happened in the Massachusetts bay colony. The British were going for Concord where the colonies held all of their weapons and gunpowder. The patriots knew they were coming and moved all of their weapons. The Minutemen won the battle because of their very untrained tactics.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought at Bunker Hill, Massachusetts, and was very significant to the war. While the British did win, the colonial army forced a significant amount of casualties, which led to the British army having to take a step back and think about their strategy. The British did win this battle, but the Coninental Army did hold their own.

    Common Sense is a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine thats main point is to say that we must seperate from the British now or else it will become too late. This dcument led to mass acceptance in the colonies and helped in getting many people on board the train of rebellion.

    The battle of Trenton was a small, but powerful battle fough in Trenton, New Jersey. Washington decided that he would attack in the early morning of the day after Christmas, this is because he knew that all of their men would be hungover. Washington snuck across the partly frozen Delaware river to attack and eventually win this battle. This battle is often seen as a turning point of the war.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The battle of Saratoga is the official turning point of the Revolutionary war. There are many sub battles here and this is one of the longest battles of the war. Saratoga is on the Hudson river in New York. At the end of the war the Brisitsh troops surrendered all of their arms over to te Continental army. This battle showed the true power and fight that the Americans had, and led to us beginning to form allies.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The battle of Yorktown was fought in Yorktown, Virginia, this battle was a turning point for the continental army. With a combination of American troops led by George Washington and French troops the Continental army suceeded in seiging Yorktown. Yorktown was a major city for the Americans to seize.
