    Resolution: Railroad companies hired non union workers
  • The Pullman Strike of 1894 (walkout)

    Reason: 12 hour workdays and reduced wages
    Description: Members of the American Railway Union joined forces and refused to work on Pullman-owned cars
    Resolution: Labor Day as a national holiday
  • The Great Anthracite Coal Strike of 1902

    Reason: Wanted better wages and improved conditions
    Description: They stopped working
    Resolution: 10 percent raise
  • The Steel Strike of 1919

    Reason: Long work hours, low wages, harassment, and poor work conditions
    Description: The strikers shut down half of the countries steel industry
    Resolution: The strike was unsuccessful
  • The Railroad Shop Workers Strike of 1922 (walkout)

    Reason: Cut wages 7 cents short
    Description: 400,000 workers walked out
    Resolution: 3 quarters of the workers were replaced and the others settled for a 5 cent pay cut
