In the beggining of the novel Amir says " The winter of 1975 came along and changed everything. And made me what I am today". This shows something special happened during this winter. What ever this event was it must have been enlightening or delightening.

This shows Hassan is a good friend and encourages amir. Clearly, another figure in the story puts Amir down. -
While Hassan and Amir climb a tree Assef comes and " puts on his brass knuckles, so Hassan pulls out his slingshot and shoots Assef. This shows Hassan is brave while Amir cant stand up for himself. Assef is obviuosly is a bully and is unsustainable.

When Amir narrartes " My kite caught a lucky gust of wind and cut the other kite. This shows Amir lucked out and might be forshadowing something. Amir's dad really wanted him to win, and now his dad is happy.

When Hassan chased Amir's kite, Amir saw Hassan get raped and " just stood there and run away". This shows Amir wouldnt do the same for his friend as he would do to Amir. This also shows hassan would do anything for Amir.

Amir has his party and Assef " gives [him] a book on Hitler. This shows Amir and Assef are enemies. Assef knows Amir hates Hitler so he gives him the book anyway.
