    King Suryavarman

    King Suryavarman expands Khmer to its greatest extent possible
  • Period: Jan 1, 1177 to Jan 1, 1178

    Cham Invasion

    Much of the Eastern part of the Khmer Empire is invaded by the Chams from the Champa region, which was situated in the modern day Vietnam
  • Period: Jan 1, 1181 to Jan 1, 1219

    Reign of King Javayarman VII

    The Chams are defeated by King Javayarman VII. He then extended Khmer to the furthest it can reach, further than King Suryavarman. King Javayarman VII is said to be the greatest king in the history of the Khmer Empire

    King Javayarman VIII

    Buddhism is renounced and Hinduism becomes the new main religion

    Khmer Empire Ends

    The Thai army attacks Angkor, the capital of the Khmer Empire at the time, and the Khmer Empire ends

    Relocation

    After the Khmers are defeted, they relocate thier capital city to Phnom Penh

    The Siamese (Thai) King defeats the Khmer King

    King Javayarman II was enthroned as a devaraja (god-king), and this had started the Khmer Empire
