    Yasovarman I (889-900)

    • He moves Khmer capital to the Angkor area -He made a gigantic resavoir -A new capital called Yasodharapura

    Rajendravarman II (944-968)

    -Bulids a series of temples at Angkor
    -Khmer had their first war
    -khmer cout became a centre for scholars and artists.

    Suryavarman II (1113-50)

    -Builds Angkor wat.
    - coquered haripunchai and south-western thailand.

    Jayavarman VII (1181-1215)

    _ Khmer empire reaches its greatest extent under Jayavarman VII
    -waged war against Champa for 20 years.
    -made Buddhism the new state religin.
    -made roads, hospitals, temples and rest houses for travellers and traders.

    • Pays tribute to Kublai Khans mongols to avoid war.

    Srindravarman (1295)

    -Deposes Jayavarman VIII and introduces Theravada buddism
