Key events in Isreali-Palistine conflict

  • The creation of Israel and it's first war

    On this date the UN decided to make Arab state that was controlled by the west, a Jewish state. As the victims of the persecution in the second world war ran to the middle east, the Muslim Palestinians were pushed out little by little. On the day of Israel's independence the surrounding Muslim countries attacked. During what is now called the war for independence many Palestinians fled the country. The end war in 1949 left many Palestinian refugees.
  • The creation of The Palistianian Liberation Organization (PLO)

    The PLO is the head of the Palestinian movement for the creation of the country Palestine. They are considered "The Sole and Legitimate representative of the Palestinian people" by the Arab Summit. This group is the main group that attends the peace meetings for the Palestine and Israel that represents the Palestinian people.
  • Palestinian mercinearies attempt to overthrow Jordinian Monarchy

    The Palestinian refugees created a state within Jordan that challenged the rule of Jordan's King Hussein rule. The King ordered the Jordan army to disarm and break the power of the palestine organizations. This trew Jordan into a civil war , and at one point in the war Syria invaded to help the Palestinians to take over Jordan. The War ended with the Syrians retreating, a Palestinian loss, and a Jordan win.
  • Israel attack South Lebanon in retaliation to PLO attack

    After the civil war Jordan evicted the PLO from Jordan. After PLO moved into Lebanon, causing much civil unrest in the country. On March 11 1978 the leaders of PLO ordered a commando attack on Israel, that left Many dead and wounded Israeli people. In retaliation Israel attacked South Lebanon where PLO was based. The Lebanese country sent a strong protest to UN to stop the attack because they were not a part of the attack or had any knowledge of it. The Israelis withdrew their forces later
  • Jordan renounces all of it's claims to the west Bank nd severs it's ruling ties with the area.

    King Hussein realizing that the younger Palestinians would not would never accept him as the spokesperson of the Palestinian people, renounced his claim of the area. This has left the West Bank to grow into the way it is currently.
