Kentucky Fried Chicken Timeline

  • Introduction

    It's Finger Lickin' good. My Virtual Museum Exhibit is on Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC is a famous fast-food restaurant franchise. KFC has been around for over 50 years and there are around 25,000 locations globally. KFC is an important topic to examine for my virtual museum exhibit for it explores the changes KFC has made to the restaurant's franchise. I want my reader to understand my topic and why I've taken an interest in KFC.

    KFC has always been important to my family because we would always pickup a bucket of chicken after my brother's baseball games. Being with my family made the meals important, but KFC was just always my favorite choice. KFC is a favorite fast-food restaurant for fans globally, and nothing beat 's fried chicken! In this Exhibit, I'm going to explore how Kentucky Fried Chicken has changed throughout the years and what example it sets as a fast-food restaurant franchise.

    KFC's First Location
    KFC originally started from a roadside restaurant by Colonial Harland Sanders in 1940. This restaurant was located in Corbin, Kentucky called Sanders Cafe.
  • KFC's First Franchise

    The first KFC franchise was opened in 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • KFC Australian Menu

    My second Artifact is an old menu from the first ever KFC in Sydney, Australia. This menu is from the early 1960's. The purpose of this menu is to inform customers of what KFC sold, and during this time period, Australia was going through the Civil Rights Movement. This menu had a lunch special for 45 cents. The most expensive meal is a bucket of chicken called a Barrel that came with 21 pieces of chicken for only $5.20.

    My first Artifact is the Vintage KFC ad. This ad is from 1967 around Christmas time. The purpose of this Vintage ad was to sell fried chicken and this ad was created to persuade customers to purchase KFC instead of cooking for the holidays. The time period of this ad was during the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement. During this time period, there was over 1500 KFC's across the country. This ad was published in newspapers across the US.
  • KFC commercial

    My third Artifact is a KFC commercial from this present year. This commercial is only 16 seconds and the purpose of this commercial is to get customers informed on the new KFC app. This commercial is catering to the idea of ordering food online and either having it delivered to you or pickup available at the closet KFC. This type of commercial is very accessible immediately after watching, for most people has access to a mobile phone.
  • Conclusion

    In summary, KFC has changed throughout the years in many ways. From the prices being completely different then they were 50 years ago to the representation of the KFC franchise, they have made slight changes that has overall made millions in profit. KFC is nationally known and loved by many fans of fried chicken. My Virtual Museum Exhibit portrayed examples of the changes KFC has/hasn't made. This exhibit describes the type of example KFC has set for their franchise.
