    The first meeting was the first gathering of Congress. It lead to more meeting and everyone could talk about what was good and what was bad in the U.S.

    George Washington became our first leader. He showed us what our nation should look like and what a good leader was.

    Congress passes its first tax
    An 8.5 percent protective tax on 30 different items. This protected many items and it was a big step for Congress.

    The Judiciary Act was organized by George Washington and Congress. The purpose of the act was to create three federal courts and define their powers and relationships with the states.

    They sent the 12 new amendments to the states for ratification and they approved 10, what is now our Bill of Rights. These amendments protect our personal rights.

    John Adams was our second leader. He believed in our army and new taxes. People weren't happy with him, but he did the right thing and everyone saw that in the end.

    The XYZ Affair brought us to the brink of war, and we almost went to war with France. The XYZ Affair helped us by not taking us to war. It saved us a lot of money and time.

    The White House was moved from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. This helped us because it helped keep the Southerners calm when they were angry with Hamilton.
