The first meeting of the US House of Representatives
The first meeting was the first gathering of Congress. It lead to more meeting and everyone could talk about what was good and what was bad in the U.S. -
George Washington became President
George Washington became our first leader. He showed us what our nation should look like and what a good leader was. -
Congress passes its first tax
An 8.5 percent protective tax on 30 different items. This protected many items and it was a big step for Congress. -
The Judiciary Act
The Judiciary Act was organized by George Washington and Congress. The purpose of the act was to create three federal courts and define their powers and relationships with the states. -
The 12 amendment is purposed
They sent the 12 new amendments to the states for ratification and they approved 10, what is now our Bill of Rights. These amendments protect our personal rights. -
The United States Army is created
Congress built our U.S army to protect us and defend our country. They only accepted 1000 men. -
The moving of the White House
The House of Representatives vote on if they think that they should move the white house. This calmed the people for a little bit and made everyone happy. -
Whiskey Rebellion
The Whiskey Rebellion was a tax protest in the United States during Washington's presidency. This helped build our government. -
The Neutrality Proclamation
The Neutrality Proclamation stated that the United States would not take sides with any European countries that were at war. It kept us out of the wars and we could still keep our ties with both sides. -
The Fugitive Slave Act Passed
The Fugitive Slave law or Fugitive Slave act was passed by the United States Congress. It helped with the slave holding interests. -
Jay's Treaty
Jay's Treaty is a peace saver between The U.S and G.B. It settled outstanding issues and keep everyone happy for a little bit. -
Pinckney's Treaty
This established intentions of friendship between the United States and Spain. This guaranteed the United States navigation rights on the Mississippi River. -
John Adams is our second President
John Adams was our second leader. He believed in our army and new taxes. People weren't happy with him, but he did the right thing and everyone saw that in the end. -
The XYZ Affair
The XYZ Affair brought us to the brink of war, and we almost went to war with France. The XYZ Affair helped us by not taking us to war. It saved us a lot of money and time. -
The White House is moved
The White House was moved from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. This helped us because it helped keep the Southerners calm when they were angry with Hamilton.
