The Monster at the end of this Book
I remember this being one of my favorite books when I was 5. I felt so excited when we got to the end of the book. -
All By Myself
This was a favorite book of mine when I was 7. I related to the main character's feelings of independence but messing up while doing things all by himself. -
Mrs. Perdue's Class
When I was 8, my 2nd grade teacher called on me to answer a question and responded to me in a mean tone. I was quiet for the rest of the year in her class. -
Willy Bear
When I was 9, I loved teddy bears. Willy Bear is a book about a boy being nervous before his first day of school. He pretends his teddy bear is going to school and gives him a pep talk the night before school and in the morning before he leaves for school. I remember loving the smell of the book. I still have this book. -
Where the Sidewalk Ends
For Christmas in 1985, my mom bought my sister and I a Shell Silverstein book and cassette tape of him reading his poems in the book. We were obsessed. -
Pen Pal
When I was 10, my girl scout troop became pen-pals with other girl scout troops across the U.S. I enjoyed writing mine letters and reading the letters she sent me. I'm not sure how long that lasted but I do remember being sad that the program stopped. -
Ms. Brown's Class
When I was 11, I had a teacher that would assign written assignments during class. I would ask for extra assignments because I loved to use her pencils. My handwriting looked a lot better with those specific pencils. -
Record Store
When I was 11, I started to really like music. My parents bought me a record player that played 7-inch records. I pretended to own a record store and sold records out of my bedroom window. When cars drove by, I spoke out of the window and sold them a record. I also sang to the records that were playing. -
Baby Sitter's Club
When I was 12, my friends and I had a book club where we read and swapped The Baby Sitter's Club books. I believe there were 50 in the original series. -
L.L. Cool J
When I was 12, I fell in love with Rap music. I rapped to L.L. Cool J's tape cassette, Radio, everyday while walking to school in the morning.
