    After the revolutionary war, all white male landowners were able to vote. people believed women should just cook, clean, and be a good wife.

    THere was a big meeting for the women's suffrage movement that recognized that all men AND WOMEN were created equal. it also foceused on giving women the right to vote
  • Civil War

    the womens suffrage movement was gaining steam in the 1850'. after the civil war the 14th and 15th amendments to the constitution were passed. the 15th amendment guaranteed black men the right to vot, which was passed in 1870. many wmen said they could use their votes too balance out black votes.
  • NWSA

    the National Women's Suffrage Association was formed in order to fight for a universal suffrage amendment in the constitution.
  • Womens Suffrage changes approach

    The womens suffrage movement stopped arguing that women deserved the same rights as men, and instead claimed they should be able to vote because the were different from men.

    All white American women obtained the right to vote when the 19th amendment was ratified.
