This was huge, because, in today's world, many people have some gaming console, and they can play with people halfway across the world in a matter of seconds. -

The creation of the IEEE 802.11g WIFI was important because, prior to its invention, wireless transmissions did not have the range or speed to satisfy the world's needs. The IEEE 802.11g WIFI allowed for people to not only do things faster, but now they can cover a whole house, coffee shop, or even a small office. This also helped lead to the fast, wide-ranged WIFI that we have today. -
Creation of Google Maps
The creation of Google Maps was huge because many people have a computer or phone and now they don't have to carry a map with them, they have one on their phone. On computers, people could get directions easier than ever. This was a major invention and is now something that people seem to use all the time. -

Currently, it seems like everyone has a phone. One of the most common is, the Apple Iphone. The creation of the Iphone was huge because it was one of the first smartphones to come out. Along with the release of the App Store was huge because people now had access to the internet in the palms of their hands. -

The Tesla Roadster was one of the first electric cars. This was huge because this meant that people didn't have to go to a gas station and refill their car. People could charger their cars and the batteries were very efficient, meaning that they lasted a long time. The creation of this helped pave the way for many more electric cars. -
Creation of Canon EOS 5D Mark II
The creation of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II was important because it marked a key moment in photography. This camera was the first D-SLR to shoot high-def video. Canon engineers developed a D-SLR processor powerful enough to encode 30 frames of high-def video from the camera's sensor every second. This paved the way for later camera's like this to get used in TV shows, commercials, and movies. Some Oscar-nominated scenes were shot with camera's like this. -
Opening of the Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure to date. It is approximately 2722 feet tall. This had a big impact because it helped us realize that we can still build things higher. It is also important because it is an attraction to many tourists. -
The Deployment of the Mars Curiosity and Sky Crane
The deployment of the Mars Curiosity was huge because it allowed us to see what Mars was like on the surface. This was revolutionary because it also allowed us to take pictures, collect materials, and see Mars closer than we have been before. The Sky Crane was also a major part because without it, the Mars Curiosity wouldn't have been able to do it's job. The Sky Crane carried it out and made sure it didn't get damaged. -
