    Invention of the Cotton Gin
    An invention made by Eli Whitney which easily separates cotton fibers from it's seed completely incresing productivity and demand. It has also brought on a huge amount of pain for African American slaves who have been forced into working for their owners to increase cotton production.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    A huge complication when the State of Missouri made an admission to the Union for the ability to become a slave state. This had ruined the balance among free and slave states, so Maine was then turned into a free state, and a border was made as well seperating the opposing states from each other.
  • Free soil party of 1848

    Free soil party of 1848
    A group of Anti- Slavery members opposed slavery expansion within the Western Territories as well as in Free States. Another objective of theirs was to get rid of those laws which discriminated against free African Americans.

    Five separate Bills which caused a confrontation among Free and Slave States for containing many positive as well as some negative laws. It was a law which wasn't made possible until the death of president Zachary Taylor.

    This was an Act in which all escaped Slaves were to be captured as well as returned to their owners. Those who were in Free States and knew an escaped slave were forced to tell authorities, for the capturing of the slave.

    Harriet Tubman was an escaped slave who had helped slaves escape into freedom through the Underground Railroad. She was able to free about up to 70 slave families and friends who were all seeking freedom.

    A Violent confrontation between the political Free and Slave states. A confrontation started by the Kansas-Nebraska act, it was a discussion which determines what can happen to a slave if the state is to be Labeled as Free.

    An act which had allowed white settlers to determine whether new territories can be labeled as Free or Slave States as a way of repealing the Missouri Act. Each States slavery status would be determined through Popular Sovereignty.

    An election which is said to be the main subject to ignite the Civil War, as Abraham Lincoln has convinced 3 states to be admitted into the Union as Free States. This was an election with 4 candidates since at that time the United States had been separated due to problems between Pro/ Anti- Slavery states.

    Beginning of the Civil War
    This was the origin of a huge war among the United States for the expansion as well as the abolishment of slavery depending on which side was the win the war. The Southern States known as the Confederate army were Pro-slavery and fought against the Northern States who were Anti-Slavery known as the Union Army. This war continued for 4 years and was won by the Union Army leading to the Abolishment of Slavery.
