When Booth was 17, he wanted to be an actor. He took classes and wasnt great at first forgetting lines. It later became his main job and made his money off acting. -
No Nothing Party
Booth was a member of the No Nothing Party. This party strongly opposed imigrants and followers of the Catholic church. He then became a member of a Virginian company that opposed slavory to capture and kill John Brown. -
Acting career
John became obsessed with fame. He wanted the nation to know him and his acting. At this point in time, Booth had become one of the greatest know actors in America. -
John Browns Exection
Booth was an eye witness of John Browns execution. Brown was an abolitionist who tried to start a slave revolt. Booth happened to be one of the armed guards who was there to prevent any last attempt by the people of saving John Brown before he was hanged. -
The Plan to Kidnap Lincoln
Lincoln was suppose to go to a theater to see a play. His plan was to kidnap him, take him to Richmond, and be held for exchange of all confedorate soldiors captured by the Union. This plan was not carried out because Lincoln ended up not going to the play that this was planned for. -
The Plan to Assasionate
Booth overhears that Lincoln will be at a play in Washington D.C. He goes to the play with Powell and Atzerodt. This is the day that they will make their move. -
Lincoln is shot
Booth finally figures out a plan to kill Lincoln. Lincoln is visiting a play in Washington D.C, when he is shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth. booth then fell over a railing, and escaped on horseback. -
Booth in Hiding
Booth and his friend in the assassionation go into hiding. They hide two miles east of the Potamac River in Maryland. They are helped by other abolisionists in the process while they are trying to escape from the Union. There is a high reward for finding Booth and Herold. -
Booth Captured
Booth and Harold are surrounded by Union soldiors in a barn they were hiding in. Harold comes out imediatly and Booth refuses to come out. The Union soldiors burn the barn that Booth is hiding in down and he runs out. As he runs out he is shot to the ground. -
John Wilkes Booth is killed
"Useless, useless!" were the last words of Booth before he died. He died parolized on the front porch of the Garrett house, the people who owned the barn. He was disapointed in himself, so thats why his last words were useless refurring to himself.
