    On October 13 1735 in Braintree, Massachusets John Adams was born into the world. He was the first born of three children. This event was important becasue it started John Adams life of accomplishment.
  • Adams enrolls at Harvard College

    Adams attends Harvard college, he will graduate in 1755. This event was importaint because it started his career as a lawyer and a government member.
  • Adams Father Dies

    During an influenza epidemic Adams father dies. Because of his death Adams recieves his inheritence wich includes property adjoinign the family home.
  • Adams marries Abigale Adams

    Adams marries Abigale Adams
    John Adams and Abigale Adams are married. They will have five children Nabby, John Quincy Adams, Susanna, Charles, and Thomas. Without the two lovers wedding we would have never had one of our presidents (John Quincy Adams)
  • Britain Passes the Stamp Act

    All idems shipped exceptare privatley correspondece and books are taxed. This was the first open tax on America and the people reacted by boycotting Only Georgia enforces the tax. The Stamp act will be repealed in 1766.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre occured when Brithish open fired on a mob and killed five colonists, Adams is asked to defend the soilders in court and agrees, saying that everyone has the right of fair trail. After sessions in court Adams wins the case, yet two soilders are still found guilty, branded, and sent free.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    Liek the Stamp Act the Tea Act was another exampke of taxing without representation by Britan. This time the tax was on the shiping of tea. Angry because of a new tax American citizens disguesed as Native Americans boarded three ships and dumped tea into the Boston harbor. For weeks the town stank of tea reminding the colonists of the unjust English.
  • Adams Joins First Continental Congress

    The Continental Congress was a group of people who served the American Colonies as a governing body. The main issue at first was Britan taxing without representation. Later it became the center of Americas independence idea. Adams is asked to represent Massachusets wihth his brother. Adams played an important part in the meetings by bringing up ideas and solutions.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    This battle was a huge sucsess to the Americans. At night after recieving news that the British were planning on taking over the hills around Boston Americans secretly moved their troops onto Bunker and Breeds Hill. They built up fortifications after coming. In the mornign the Britsh attackeded. The Americans fought back the first two charges, but lost the hill. However the British had lost 226 of their soilders and 800. while the Americans had not lost nearly as many.
  • The Deceration of Independence is Signed

    The Decleration of Independence was a document that stated that the colonies were braking off from England. Drafted from Thomas Jefferson this document stated that England was enforcing unfair rules on America. The result was that the colonies would go to war against England and become their own country,
  • Washington Crosses the Delaware River

    It was close to Christmas when George Washington took a big chance and crossed the river. Boats carrying the American soilders had to cross icy water. Once across the soilders marched toward the party of tired drunk Hessians. An American victory followed ending with 900 Hessian and food, supplies ,and ammunition taken by the Americans. This battle was a reason to keep fighting for the Americans and was a HUGE moral booster.
  • Yorktown Battle is Won By America

    The Yorktown battle was the last battle of the Revolutionary War. With help from the French, America wins the Yorktown battle and England starts to consider letting America become its own country. Without this battle won America still may have been part of Britain.
  • Dutch recognize America as an Independent Country

    Due to John Adams efforts the Dutchgive America a 2 million dollar loan. This first loan was of great use to the Americans.
  • The Constitution is ratifies

    The Constitution is the highest law in the U.S. All laws come from the Constitution. It describes how the government, the Presidency, Congress, The Supreme Court, and describes citizens rights. The Constitution can be changed by an amendment. The first ten amendments are called the Bill of Rights. 200 years ago when the Constitution was being ratified there were a lot of speeches, modifications, and arguing, since the Congress wanted everyone to agree.   • John Adams is elected the Vice President

    George Washington chooses John Adam as his Vice President. Adams becomes the first Vice President of the United States. This event was important because it astablishes Adams as a man of government power.
  • George Washinton is Elected the President

    Having recently adopted the Costitution the United States had its first presidental election. The winning canadate proved to be George Washington. Washington came in first with a total of 69 votes while John Adams is elected Vice President with a grand total of 34 votes. Washington started many traditions within the job of president, forinstince a president serving two terms.

    The Bill of Rights were a gignticaly important part of America's start. In this specific document there are 10 amendments that guarentee the freedoms and rights of the american citizens.

    On March 4th after winning in a landslide against Jefferson, Adams is elected the 2nd president of teh United States. As Vice President the government elects Aaron Burr a republican. Adams is a federalist the opposite of his partner which will cause conflict Looking ahead Adam's term was a rough one, however knowing that America still stands today we must infer that he did something right.
  • The XYZ Affair

    Because of the Jay Treaty between America and Great Britian, France became offended and started siezing American ships. Adams sent over three delegates to negotiate peace. Hearing the news Talleyrand, the french minister, sent three agents (refered to as X,Y,and Z by Adams) to the delegates. The three agents were told to demand a bribe for Talleyrand and a loan to France to stop the shipping raids. Infuriated, american citizens prepare for war. After several battles France declaires peace.
  • Alien and Sedition Acts

    The Aliens and Sedition Act was a law that restricted immagrants from having freedom odf speech and press pnishment being jail an fines. This act was made because of the tension between France and America and the war both sides were preparing for. America did not want French immagrants coming in and spying for the enemy.
  • British Burn The White House Down

    Sore from the American beating British troops invade Washington and burn the White House down. Later the House was rebuilt and the builders painted it white so Teddy Rosavelt nicknamed it the White House (originally the house was named The Presidents House)
  • Abigal Adams Dies

    At the age of 73 due to typhios fever Abigal Addams dies. This event is important because it ends the relashonship with Adams and his wife.
  • Adams Dies

    On July 4th, 1826 at the age of 91 Adams passes away, his last words being, "Jefferson still provails,". However only two hours before this Jefferson had passed away. :(
