    The United States defeats Japan in 1945 and ends World War 2. Japan surrended and was reduced to rubble.

    The Diet passed Japan's first ever trade union law protecting the rights of workers to form or join a union.

  • Japan's constitution takes effect

  • Peace Treaty of Japan

    The United States and other Allied nations sign the Treaty of Peace with Japan

  • U.S changes Peace Treaty with Japan

  • Japan regained full independence

    Japan becomes independent again. It keeps a close relationship with the U.S though. The U.S didn't want communism to spread so it felt that it sould help Japan rebuild and grow economiclly. The U.S also wanted Japan to not be drawn to communism.
