    The United Nations Partition Plan 1947
    The United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was proposed by the United Nations. This recommended that a partition be mandatory of Palestine at the end of the British Mandate. In November 1947, the United Nations General Assembly took in the Plan as a Resolution.

    The Jewish Attack the Palestinian Village of Deir Yassin
    Many villages were to be attacked on this night. This was an attempt to clear the roads that led to Jerusalem.This marked the first time Jewish forces fought with the goal of forever ridding an area of Arab villages.

    This war began when five Arab nations invaded the territory of the former Palestinian mandate right after the announcement of the independence of the state of Israel on May 14, 1948.
  • Palestinians become refugees

    Palestinians become refugees
    About 700,000 Palestinian Arabs fled their homes in their new state Most of the Palestinian Arabs who fled voluntarily did it to avoid the war. The Arab leaders promised that all who left would return after an Arab victory over the new Jewish state. Some Palestinians were forced to flee by those fighting for Israel.

    Egypt violated the Egyptian-Israeli armistice agreement. They blocked Israeli ships from passing through the Suez Canal, a major international waterway. It also started to block traffic through Tiran, a passage of water linking the Israeli port of Eilat to the Red Sea. This cut off the port of Eilat -- Israel's main outlet to the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. Palestinian Arab fedayeen launched cross-border attacks on Israeli civilian centers and military outposts from Egypt, Jordan and Syria.
  • PLO formed

    PLO formed
    The PLO was established in 1964 in Jerusalem. Its reason for founding included the growing salience of the Palestine question in inter-Arab politics, the continuous friction between the Arab states and Israel over water diversion projects and other issues. The growth of independent Palestinian nationalist activity was promoted by this. Arab governments, Egypt, wanted to preempt this.

    Six day war begins
    In June 1967, Israel launched a strike against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, after Nasser declared his goal to annihilate the Jewish state and forged military alliances with Syria and Jordan. They were building up troop concentrations along the border with Israel and blocking shipments to Eilat. The six-day war after Israel's attack ended with the Israeli army withholding Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, Syria's Golan Heights, and Jordan's West Bank.

    Palestinian members of Black September murder 11 olympic athletes
    Sept. 5, 1972, in Munich, Germany, Palestinian armed with automatic rifles broke into the Israeli team headquarters at the Olympic Village, killed two members of the team and took nine hostages. Hours later, the nine hostages had also been murdered. Along with was a German policeman and five of the Palestinian terrorists.

    Massacre at the Tomb of the Patriarchs
    On February 25, 1994, Baruch Goldstein walked into the Ibrahim Mosque at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron and as he entered, he opened fire at worshipers, killing 29 and wounding at least 125 unarmed Palestinians. After running out of ammunition, he was hit over the head with a fire extinguisher and beaten to his death by survivors of the massacre.

Israel will respect Jordan’s role in mosques and Jerusalem. They will give it high priority.Jordan leased one sq. mi. to Israelis for 25-years for Israel to provide more water.

    Hamas and Fatah Agree to Form a Unity Government
    The Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah agreed to form a unity government and hold new elections. This was a new attempt to overcome a seven-year split that has left them divided between two governments.
