Inventors/Innovators

  • James Hargreaves the Inventor of the Spinning Jenny

James Hargreaves the Inventor of the Spinning Jenny
James Hargreaves the Inventor of the Spinning Jenny. The Spinning Jenny was invented in 1764. This machine helped the process of weaving faster. The advantages of this machine was it reduced the amount of work needed to produce cloth, with a worker able to work eight or more spools at once. The only drawback from this machine was that the thread that is produce was too thick to be used for warp threads. This machine is still used today in this age.
  • Richard Arkwright the Inventor of the Water Frame

Richard Arkwright the Inventor of the Water Frame
Richard Arkwright is the inventor of the Water Frame. Richard Arkwright invented the first textile machine powered by water. This made people who worked in textile factories jobs easier and less hard work for those people. This machine isn't really used to this day because not everything is handmade now; we have machine to do it for us.
  • John Kay the Inventor of the Flying Shuttle

John Kay the Inventor of the Flying Shuttle
John Kay invented the Flying Shuttle. This was invented May of 1773. This machine help weavers weave faster so they didn't have to do everything by hand. A advantage of this weaver would work in small areas of their homes and now this made factories open up. Disadvantage of this happening now these factories would pollute areas around them. The flying shuttle is still used till this day for the same thing it was used for back then.
  • Samuel Crompton the Inventor of the Spinning Mule

Samuel Crompton the Inventor of the Spinning Mule
Samuel Crompton is the inventor of the Spinning Mule. The spinning mule was used to spin cotton and other fibers. This development helped spin cotton better than someone who would do it by hand. This invention is a crossbreed of James Hargreaves' spinning jenny and Richard Arkwrights' water frame. This invention isn't really used to this day because we have other machines that were developed that were better than it was in its year.
  • James Watt the inventor of the Steam Engine

James Watt the inventor of the Steam Engine
James Watt is the inventor of the Steam Engine. James Watt actually improved Thomas Newcomen's model of the steam engine. A disadvantage of the steam engine was it has low efficiency. The steam engine is still used today.
  • Richard Trevithick the Inventor of the Steam Locomotive

Richard Trevithick the Inventor of the Steam Locomotive
Richard Trevithick is the inventor of the Steam Locomotive along side George Stephenson. The steam locomotive helped people get to place to place during this time. The steam locomotive is still used to this day for a way of transporting people around.
  • George Stephenson the Inventor of the Steam Locomotive

George Stephenson the Inventor of the Steam Locomotive
George Stephenson is the inventor of the Steam Locomotive. He built the locomotives for the first railroads that were made. The advantages of this was that people could get to places quicker. We do use locomotives still to this day but they are know as trains. They have gone a little out of style now because we have cars.
  • Robert Fulton the inventor of the Steamboat

Robert Fulton the inventor of the Steamboat
Robert Fulton is the inventor of the Steamboat. The steamboat is a way of transporting people from place to place on water. The steamboat works on the water moving people place to place. The steamboat gets its name from the steam from the top of it when it is moving along the water. The steamboat is still used to this day.
  • Louis Pasteur the inventor of the Pasteurization

Louis Pasteur the inventor of the Pasteurization
Louis Pasteur found out about Pasteurization. He found out that food does spoil. This process kills bacteria on food so we don't get sick. This is still used today and it is very helpful so don't get sick or get food poisoning from eating stuff.
  • Henry Bessemer the inventor of the Steel-Making Process

Henry Bessemer the inventor of the Steel-Making Process
Henry Bessemer is the inventor of the Steel-Making Process. He found a way to melt steel to make objects. This lead to other people making things with his process. Other inventions were made using this process. We still use this process to this day.
  • Thomas Edison the inventor of the Light bulb

Thomas Edison the inventor of the Light bulb
Thomas Edison is the inventor of the Light Bulb. The light bulb is a very common used thing in this era. We still use the light bulb to this day. Its helped many people see in the dark of their houses or even going outside in the dark without the use of candles.
  • Nikola Tesla the inventor of the Tesla Coil

Nikola Tesla the inventor of the Tesla Coil
Nikola Telsa is the inventor of the Tesla Coil. Last name is in the name. The Telsa Coil provides a high voltage power source. This helps to this day because we need electricity in this era we live in now.
