ARPANET
Leonard Kleinrock develops a theory called the packet switching that showed a wide area networking, this is a success and Kleinrock moves over to DARPA to take action in the plan named as ARPANET. -
Expansion of ARPANET
The internet which was called as ARPANET back then was applied and connected 4 major computers in the southwestern part of the US, it then started expanding worldwide. -
Telnet Protocol
The email or the telnet protocol was introduced to the ARPANET project that started idea of logging in from any remote computer. -
FTP Protocol
The ftp protocol was introduced in which it allowed people to be able to share or transfer files through the internet websites. -
TCP/IP System
The TCP/IP system is born and is adopted replacing the system of NCP used before. -
Local Area Network/Gophers
In this period the idea of small systems was given but the idea of the BIG system didn’t want that, there was a debate the BIG system idea won but people decided to give another chance to the small systems idea and a small prototype was created called the Gopher. It was so simple to use that it became popular and within the period of some years there were around 10,000 gophers in the world. -

Menlo Park creates the world wide known and used program called Google used for searching. -

Napster, a program used for file sharing hits 1 billion pages and becomes the first large website to work with a peer to peer kind of system/file sharing system. -

The rise of spam appears, tons of junk emails appear in a lot of the email accounts. -

Mark Zuckerberg creates what today is the famous social network as Facebook. -
Youtube
3 employees of the company PayPal create the world wide known website called Youtube where you can share videos.
