    When the modern German nation was created, major industries sprouted up and completely industrialized Germany. When railroads were invented it increased the demand for coal and steel, and Germany became a huge industrial power and military power.

Wages were better in the cities than the farms, but the working conditions and hours were unimaginable. Unions were created by the workers to protect the workers. in 1875 British Unions won the right to strike after puting preshure on factory owners who were in or a great influence on Parliment.
