  • Jethro Tull invents the seed drill

    The invention of the seed drill, made by Jethro Tull, is an important creation. It allows farmers to plant thier seeds more strategically and rather than throwing seeds wildly into the air, farmers were capable of planting them in rows. This created more uniform and productive crops which grew more efficiently, creating a larger revenue for the farmers who didn't live in cities.
  • John Kay invents the flying shuttle

    This event is important because the first invention of a yarn-spinning machine kickstarts the textile industrial revolution. With yarn that can be spun much more quickly, people could make more fabric with more efficient and reliable yarn. The flying shuttle was the first invention in a long line of industrial machines that would make the factory owners richer, create a need for child labor, and make the creation of fabric a simpler process.
  • James Watt builds the first steam engine

    The steam engine was one of the first machines to provide a means of powering machines without requiring them to be next to running water. It allowed boats to power themselves and factories to be set up without causing too large of an environmental impact on the rivers around them.
  • Germany becomes dominant industrial power in Europe

    Germany becoming one of the dominant industrial powers in Europe is important because it would go on to become one of the most influential countries in history. Its rich coal deposits in the Ruhr valley made it possible for the country to reach a high status of power in the industrial revolution, making a formerly weak and broken collection of provinces one unified strong nation.
  • Marx and Engels publish The Communist Manifesto

    Mar and Engels publishing the Communist Manifesto is an important event because it symbolized a new form of government coming to life. Communism suggested that a strong and prominent governement would closely control the people until they worked for each other, working to buy their neighbors a new car and other such things. In theory, eventually the people would grow to live like that and wouldn't need the government to operate so.
  • US Civil War ends; US experiences technological boom

    When the US civil war anded, causing a technological boom, it created one of the elading industrious countries today. When it was finally united, the US could work together to create better mills with more productive workers with higher morales. The technological boom and final unification helped the US become one of the more important countries involved in the Industrial Revolution.
  • British Unions win right to strike

    The British Unions winning the right to strike from the government is an act that symbolizes the power shifting towards the people. The people control the market; if they are not happy with how their wages or the economy is going, they have the right to have their voices heard and their thoughts portrayed. The people of Britian were getting closer and closer to both the ideas of free speech and capitalism.
