  • Jethro Tull invents the seed drill

    Wealthy landowners made enclosure to test out new methods of harvesting and seeding. Jethro Tull realized that the way people were sowing seeds was ineffective most of the time. He invented the seed drill: an efficient and quick way of sowing seeds.
  • John Kay invents the flying shuttle

    With this explosion of creativity, many other things got industrialized. Things in the textile industry industrialized. John Kay invented a machine that sped back and forth on wheel. It was a shuttle with yarn attached. This increased the amount of work a weaver could do in a day.
  • James Watt builds the first steam engine

    Steam -powered pumps took up way too much fuel, so James Watt thought of an engine that took up less fuel and was more efficient. Funded by Matthew Boulton, James Watt built the first steam engine.
  • Marx and Engels publish The Communist Manifesto

    With the rise of other possible concepts fo government, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels came up with a concept called communism, in where the givernment controls everything and makes everyone and everything equal. Eventually, the whole country would even out and there would be no need for the government, since everything was evenly balanced.
  • US Civil War ends; US experiences technological boom

    After the Civil War, the US had a technological boom. They had the same resources and polotical stability as Britain, so they decided to industrialize like Britain did.
  • Germany becomes dominant industrial power in Europe

    Though Germany revolutionized in scattered places, it still had the Ruhr Valley. The Ruhr Valley had many resources that helped Germnay revolutionize quickly and become a dominant industrial power.
  • British Unions win right to strike

    With the rapid increase in economy and changes, the British government didn't place any reforms or was prepared for the rapid increase in thing; living and working conditions suffered. The factory workers decided to form groups called unions which protested various things. The Unions right ot strike was removed, causing many people to be upset. The British Unions then won back their right to strike.
