James Hargreaves invented the spinning jenny, which was a machine that spun more than one ball of yarn or thread at a time. This made it easier and faster to make cloth. -

COTTON GIN
Eli Whitney invented the machine that makes separating cotton seeds from cotton fiber much easier and quicker. It also reduced the time it took to clean the cotton and helped the southern states make more money from cotton crops. -
TELEGRAPH
Samuel Morse invents the telegraph, a device that sends messages quickly over a wire. The wires stretched across the east coast of the United States west of the Mississippi River by 1860. -
SEWING MACHINE
Elias Howe invents the sewing machine in 1846. With the machine, people don't have to make all their own clothes, which would normally take a very long time, can now all be made in factories. -
ELEVATOR SAFETY BRAKE
Elevators were made by 1853, but there was still a fear of the carriers falling. Elisha Otis invants a safety break that prevents them from falling when a cable or cord breaks. -
BESSEMER METHOD
The method, named after Henry Bessemer, is a process of making steel from iron. THe method allowed steel to be built quicker and cheaper. This helped the production of building and it led to the growth of cities. -
DYNAMITE
Alfred Nobel invents a safer way to create holes in mountains or the ground. Instead of just lighting black powder, dynamite was used. It's important in clearing paths to builds other things, such as roads. -
VACCINES
Louis Pasteur, a chemist who believed germs cause diseases, created many vaccines to help prevent diseases, which also helped people live longer. -
LIGHT BULD
Although he didnt invent the first light buld, Thomas Edison developed a light bulb that works and lasts much longer. He used his desings to light a lamp, and his improvements are what now allow us to use light sources for as long as we would like. -
AIRPLANE
Orville wright invents the first plane that isn't powered by wind, using an engine he also invented. During his first flight, he flies for 12 seconds over a beach in North Carolina. -
MODEL T
Henry Ford invents a type of car called the Model T, which was much cheaper than other cars because it was created on an assembly line. With this, it allowed many more people to buy cars. -
