    Establishment of IIMA
    Led by space scientist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and an eminent industrialist Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai, and proactively supported by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, a group of enlightened individuals set up IIMA in 1961.The Ford Foundation and the Harvard Business School, helped to establish the foundations of the Institute.Current Chairman is Kumar Mangalam Birla who is one of the top industrialist of Inida and dean is Shailesh Gandhi.

    ‘Vidya viniyogadvikasa'— ‘development through the distribution or application of knowledge': is the motto which has guided the Indian Institute of Management.since its establishment,enabling it to develop a reputation for excellence and leadership in management education. Created and nurtured as an institute of management and not just as a business school, IIMA has produced numerous leader-managers for the business and public sectors who shaped their organizational, economic and social contexts.

    Students' Personal and Career Development Center (SPCDC).It is is an on-campus counselling facility.SPCDC offers short term individual counselling, extended psycho-therapeutic support plans, and group sessions. A range of psychometric tools are used for assessment and self exploration. Referrals for medical and psychiatric consultations are available on request.Including this Accomodation, Library, Hi tech labs and many more facilities offered by IIMA to their students.

    IIM Ahmedabad currently offers post graduate diplomas in management, not degrees, pending the approval of the Indian Institute of Management Bill, 2017.These include two-year full-time programmes and one-year full-time, residential executive programme .IIM Ahmedabad also offers doctoral level fellowship programmes and conducts a number of executive education and faculty development programmes. IIMA has affiliations with 78 leading business schools across the world.

    In 2008, IIMA became the first management school in the country to be awarded EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development).IIMA has been consistently ranked as the premier management school in the country by several national agencies. IIMA programmes are also ranked highly in several international rankings.
