    I was born on October 9, 1860, in Dublin, Ireland. My family was wealthy. And my father made a good living as a farmer.

    My dad sold his farm and moved the family to America to find a new, better job. He expected there to be many profitting jobs here. There were not. when we got there, Ellis Island was loud and crowded.

    Got a job as a steelworker at 16 years old. Moved to pittsburgh to be close to the job. Very dangerous, people fell into he molten steel and just disappeared. Got fired in 1879 for being late every day.

    Moved to NY, to find a better job. couldn't find any job. Had to live in a tenement house. Very dirty, and unsafe. Even the streets were messy, with people's waste.

    I just learned that my brother was on the Titanic, and was of the many people who died. It was called the unsinkable ship, but it still sunk.

    My son got drafted into WWI. Died in italy, during the battle of asiago. May 15, 1916. he was shot on the first day of the battle. He died quickly and did not suffer.
