    Who:Senator Henry Clay, John C. Calhoun, Daniel Webster
    What: Fugitive slave act was amended. Slaves in Washington D.C were abolished also gained more territory.
    When: 1850
    Where: No exact location between the North and South
    Outcome:There was a new fugitive slave act. Calhoun wanted to cese slavery in the north.
    Significance: It strengthened the fugitive slave law, But didn't abolish slavery. The compromise also helped expand the territory. There were new territories.

    What: Capture slaves that ran away fron their owner.
    When: 1850
    Where: Northern States
    Outcome: Harder for fugitive slaves to runaway fron their owners, benifited the owners to get them back. it was hard for the slaves to be free.

    Who: Harriett Beecher Stowe
    What: A book that encouraged people yo stop slavery becasuse its not a good thing.
    When:1852
    Where:in the states
    Outcome: The book was the start to the big war. When Lincoln met stowe he reportedly said, " So this is the little lady who made this big war."
    Significance: This opened up peoples eyes and started the war.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Who: Abolitionist
    What: A period of violence while settling in the kansas territory.
    When:1855-1861
    Where: kansas
    Outcome:The kansas Nebraska act led people to fight over kansas terriotory being a free or slave state John Brown led the abolitionist.
    Significance:People wanted this to be a free state but others wated it to be a slave state so they faught over it to see which one it would be
  • Dred Scott v. Sandford

    Dred Scott v. Sandford
    Who: Dred Scott, Chief Justice Roger B. Taney
    What: This was a Court Case brought by Dred Scott.
    When:1857
    Where: Missiouri
    Outcome: The court found that no slave or black person could be a U.S. Citizen.
    Significance: Slaves wanted more rights they wanted freedom and it made things difficult for them people would soon fight for waht they belive in.
  • John Brown's Raid on Harper's Ferry

    John Brown's Raid on Harper's Ferry
    Who: John Brown & Federal Army
    What:He wanted to get rid of slavery so he revolted against the federal army with a group of people
    When:1859
    Where: Harpers Ferry, Virginia
    Outcome: He guided slaves in their escape from the south. He was sentenced to death for his dcrime and hanged on December 2,1859
    Significance:He wanted to help the slaves find freedom and helped them get away from the south this was important because it showed how people were going out of their way just to helps slaves
