With aid from the British in the form of supplies and troops, Lee wins The Battle of Gettysburg. Jeb Stuart's cavalry defeats Custer's cavalry in the fields just north of Gettysburg allowing Pickett's Charge, just south of Gettysburg, to succeed. Union forces are overwhelmed and scatter in disarray.

Lincoln surrenders to Jefferson Davis at Gettysburg.

Lee convinces Davis to end slavery on moral and political grounds. Border states split: Delaware, West Virginia and Missouri stay with the North (now called the United States of America (USA)); Kentucky and Maryland join the SSA.

Texas claims the SSA is intruding on States Rights, refuses to end slavery citing the economics of growing cotton and refuses to join the SSA. Texas secedes and forms the Second Republic of Texas. Former slaves and abolitionists emigrate to Canada. Canada experiences an intellectual, music and artistic boom. Toronto becomes the art capital of North America.

Lincoln vs. Grant. Lincoln is defeated by Ulysses S. Grant. Grant becomes the new President of the USA and Lincoln moves back home to Springfield, IL.

British and SSA joint naval force attack and successfully invade Cuba and Puerto Rico to establish cotton and sugar cane plantations, Jan. 7 - 31, 1865.

Mexico sees the USA and the Second Republic of Texas (RoT) as military weak after the Civil War and invades Arizona, California and western undeveloped parts of the RoT to take back territory it lost after the Mexican American War of 1846. The USA sends troops and reclaims most of its territory but loses territory extending east from San Diego to Yuma, along the Gila River as it crosses Arizona, directly east across New Mexico and south along the Pecos River to Del Rio, TX.

Russian sells Alaska to Great Britain for $7.2 million. The colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Province of Canada join to form Canada on July 1, 1867 but do not include Alaska.

Jefferson Davis does not run for President. James Longstreet vs. Robert E. Lee. Lee is elected President, Longstreet becomes Vice President.

Hurricane 9 of 1870. On October 19 a hurricane was discovered in the Caribbean. The next day it made landfall in western Cuba as a Category 2 hurricane, causing severe damage in Batabano and Vuela Abajo. This hurricane destroyed the cotton and sugar cane crops.

Hurricane 4 of 1871. The fourth tropical storm of the season developed WSW of the Cape Verde Islands. The system…passed 30 miles northeast of Fajardo, Puerto Rico. The hurricane caused numerous shipwrecks, including three ships lost at Puerto Rico and destroyed the cotton and sugar cane crops.

Britain and the SSA close their cotton and sugar plantations as unprofitable and end their partnership. Britain and the SSA abandon their colonies in Cuba and Puerto Rico allowing Spain to take over.

The war lasted for just over 4 months, from April 21 to Aug 13, 1898. Cubans had been revolting against Spanish rule for several years and reports of Spanish atrocities prompt SSA President Jeb Stuart to send the SSA Alabama to Cuba where it mysteriously exploded in Havana Harbor. The SSA declares war against Spain and claims Cuba, Puerto Rico as its own territory.

The German Foreign Minister, in the Zimmermann Telegram, invited Texas to join the war as Germany’s ally against the USA and SSA. In return, the Germans would finance Texas’s war and help it recover territories it lost to the USA, SSA and Mexico. Great Britain intercepts the message and presented it to the USA and SSA embassies.

Presidents Wilson and Stuart declare war on Germany. Both Texas and Mexico remain neutral. Great Britain asks the USA and CSA for assistance and sells Alaska to the USA in return for lending/leasing ships, equipment to fight against Germany.

DuPont invents Nylon prompting Texas’s cotton economy to collapse. With little demand for cotton labor, Texas frees its slaves, joins the USA and ratifies the 13th Amendment.
