I Love the 80s

  • 31/2 Floppy Disc

The 31/2 floppy disc was invented by Sony. There were other floppy discs prior to this timeframe. The great thing about this invention was we no longer had to store data on a hard drive. It allowed us to carry data from one computer to another. This was a great thing when I was commuting to graduate school and living home. I was able to work on assignments at college, save on a floppy disc, and then work on the same assignment at home as well.
  • PC Computer

In 1981 the PC or personal computer was invented by IBM. This was one of the most popular computer designs during that timeframe. It allowed many more people to buy a personal computer due to the well reduced price tag and had great efficiency. I believe this was our first family PC.
  • CD-ROM

The CD Rom was developed by Phillips and Sony. It was a new medium for mass storage and holding large amounts of removable data. It was able to be mass produced at a low cost and started the way for DVD's. I believe my mother, a baby boomer, still listens to her DVD's and doesn't quite trust downloading an app on her phone to listen to music.
  • Ninetendo

Ninetendo was a gaming tool created by a Japanese designer by the name of Uemura Masayuki. This revived the gaming industry in the US. It became a well-known trusted brand that continues to evolve.
  • Gameboy

Gameboy was invented by nintendo's chief engineer, Gunpei Yokoi and his team. This little piece of technology was said to start the gamer generation. It allowed games to freely go where you went.
