Maya and her brother are sent off to live with their fathers grandparents after the divorce of Vivian and Bailey to Stamps,Arkansas. -

Daddy Bailey all the sudden shows up to Stamps, Arkansas takes the children to St. Louis to live with their mother, Vivian and her boyfriend Mr.Freeman. -

Maya spends her summer vacation with Daddy Bailey. Part of the adventure involves a trip to Mexico, which ends when Maya gets into a fourteen-year-old-at-the-wheel car accident. -
Run Away
Maya spends the next month living..well, homeless in a jukyard . She eventually calls her mother when she is ready to come home. Living in that junkyard,though, she made many friends of different races. -
