How I Communicated With The World timeline

DEFINITION:
Television (TV) is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting moving images in monochrome (black and white), or in colour, and in two or three dimensions and sound. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
As a child, I was oblivious of my surroundings. In order to be aware and acquire knowledge, I used TV as a source of information and based my understand of my surroundings on pictures and actions that I can see on TV.

DEFINITION:
Radio is the technology of using radio waves to carry information, such as sound, by systematically modulating properties of electromagnetic energy waves transmitted through space, such as their amplitude, frequency, phase, or pulse width. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
As a child, I can only absorb knowledge through listening and mimicking the sounds that I usually hear. The radio helped me a lot on acquiring new knowledge and also in speaking properly.

DEFINITION:
A book is a series of pages assembled for easy portability and reading, as well as the composition contained in it. Books are widely used across the world by all ages to obtain knowledge. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I used books to gain new knowledge when I learned how to read texts. This is one of my source of information up until now. Books are what I commonly use when learning.

DEFINITION:
A letter is a medium of communication wherein messages are written in a paper and sent to the receiver of the message. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Growing up, I learned how to express my feelings/thoughts through written works. I used letters to convey my feelings/messages to a certain person especially the messages that I couldn't tell in person.

DEFINITION:
The Tamagotchi (たまごっち) [tamaɡotꜜtɕi] is a handheld digital pet, created in Japan by Akihiro Yokoi (ja) of WiZ and Aki Maita[citation needed] of Bandai. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
When I was kid, me and my friends play tamagotchi to take care of our virtual pet. We feed our pet, clean its poop and play it every day.

DEFINITION:
A DVD player is a device that plays DVD discs produced under both the DVD-Video and DVD-Audio technical standards, two different and incompatible standards. DVD players are connected to a television to watch the DVD content, which could be a movie, a recorded TV show, or other content. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I used DVD player to watch movies before. I used DVD mainly for entertainment.

DEFINITION:
A computer is a device that can be instructed to carry out arbitrary sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. The ability of computers to follow generalized sets of operations, called programs, enables them to perform an extremely wide range of tasks. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
When I was a kid, I use computer for entertainment and for learning. I also watch videos using computer.

DEFINITION:
The PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a handheld game console developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I never had my own PSP. I used to borrow my friend's PSP and play with my friends. We used to play drag racing and harvest moon on PSP.

DEFINITION:
Friendster was a social gaming site based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was originally a social networking service website. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
When I was a kid, friendster was really a trend. Everyone has their own friendster and with friendster, we communicate, play games and design our own profile.

DEFINITION:
Yahoo Mail is a web-based email service, launched in 1997 through the American parent company Yahoo. Yahoo Mail provides four different email plans: three for personal use (Basic, Plus, and Ad Free) and another for businesses. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
My mom used to use this a form of communication with her former classmates and so she taught me how to use this as communication.

Yahoo! Messenger (sometimes abbreviated Y!M) is an advertisement-supported instant messaging client and associated protocol provided by Yahoo!. Yahoo Messenger is provided free of charge and can be downloaded and used with a generic "Yahoo ID" which also allows access to other Yahoo! services PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Aside from Yahoo! Mail, I used Yahoo! Messenger as well. My uncles live far away from us and using yahoo messenger I was able to see and talk to them by video call.

Y8 is a website wherein there are various of games that can be played. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I knew y8 from my sister. Every day, whenever I use computer, I go to y8.com and play games. My favorite games were dress up games and cooking games

DEFINITION:
Friv is a website wherein you can play various of free games. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Just like y8, I use this to play online games. I knew Friv from my cousin and since then, I started to play games on Friv.

DEFINITION:
Facebook is an American for-profit corporation and an online social media and social networking service based in Menlo Park, California. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I first used facebook because I wanted to play Farmville before, but as years go by, Facebook has became a part of my life. In facebook, I play games, communicate with random people and people who are far away me, share information, obtain knowledge and for leisure.

A search engine that is widely used by everyone. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Google has been a big part of my life. Using google, I can basically search everything that is on the internet. This helped me a lot in studying.

DEFINITION:
YouTube allows users to upload, view, rate, share, add to favorites, report, comment on videos, and subscribe to other users. It offers a wide variety of user-generated and corporate media videos. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I use youtube for entertainment purposes. I watch videos of my favorite artists using youtube, and also listen to music.

DEFINITION:
A laptop, often called a notebook or "notebook computer", is a small, portable personal computer with a "clamshell" form factor, an alphanumeric keyboard on the lower part of the "clamshell" and a thin LCD or LED computer screen on the upper part, which is opened up to use the computer. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I use computer and laptop the same way but I prefer laptop more because it's very convenient to bring laptop to different places when you need to work.

A smartphone is a handheld personal computer with a mobile operating system and an integrated mobile broadband cellular network connection for voice, SMS, and Internet data communicationSmartphones are typically pocket-sized, as opposed to tablets, which are much larger than a pocket. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I bought my first phone (the picture) using my own money when I was in grade 5. I primarily use smartphones to do things I do in computer but in a smaller version.

DEFINITION:
Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia with the aim to allow anyone to edit articles. Wikipedia is the largest and most popular general reference work on the Internet. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Whenever I search up in google for my assignments and when I need information about something, I use wikipedia.

DEFINITION:
Twitter is an online news and social networking service where users post and interact with messages, called "tweets." These messages were originally restricted to 140 characters, but on November 7, 2017, the limit was doubled to 280 characters for all languages except Japanese, Korean and Chinese. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I started using twitter to know the current trends and issues on the internet. I also use this to follow my favorite star's activities.

Google Play (formerly Android Market) is a digital distribution service operated and developed by Google. It serves as the official app store for the Android operating system, allowing users to browse and download applications developed with the Android software development kit (SDK) and published through Google. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I use google play store in my android phone to install applications in my phone.

DEFINITION:
Instagram is a mobile, desktop, and Internet-based photo-sharing application and service that allows users to share pictures and videos either publicly, or privately to pre-approved followers. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I upload my memories with appropriate caption in instagram. I also use instagram to look up other person's memories. For me, instagram is like my online photo album.

DEFINITION:
"V" is an app that lets you watch the personal broadcasting videos of celebs on your phone. You can follow your favorite celebs, watch their videos, and use comments and ‘hearts’ to share your thoughts and feelings with others. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Since I like kpop, I often use VLIVE to watch my favorite kpop artists when they broadcast live on their own channels.

DEFINITION:
Instantly reach the people in your life—for free. Messenger is just like texting, but you don't have to pay for every message (it works with your data plan). PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Before, facebook has its own messenger but as years go by, facebook has decided to seperate the messaging platform, which became the application called Messenger. I use messenger to chat my friends and have a videocall/call with them.

DEFINITION:
Gmail is a zero-price, advertising-supported email service developed by Google. Users can access Gmail on the web and through mobile apps for Android and iOS. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
Before, I used to use Yahoo as a form of communication but this year, I started using gmail as my form of communication and transactions online.

DEFINITION:
Edmodo is an educational technology company offering a communication, collaboration, and coaching platform to K-12 schools and teachers. The Edmodo network enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I use edmodo to pass my assignments and have my online class.

DEFINITION:
A blog (a truncation of the expression "weblog") is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries ("posts"). Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page. PERSONAL INSIGHT:
I use blogspot for my class in medialit1718, this serves as my online notebook in this subject.
