    Growing up in Washington, Solo started off playing soccer as a forward. As her love for the game grew, she transferred to being a goalie for the Washington Huskies. Quickly Solo's talent became prominent and she became the alternate goalie for Team USA in 2004 and her career kicked off from there.

    To most soccer fans World Cup is a bigger deal than the Olympics. Hope Solo knows how important this tournament is and is determined to win. A large component of the game is working together with teammates. Some players may not have a connection with their companions, but as shown from the photo, Hope Solo has close relationship with her teammates. The excitement on their faces and having one player in the air, it shows that Team USA just succeeded and they want to celebrate together ("Hope").

    A bunch of questions were asked to each player like “What can you not travel without?”. Hope Solo answered his questions with witty and fun answers like every other teammate except for the question “Team USA’s style of playing is…” Where her response was “A winning style!”. Although this can just be confidence in her team, it can also come across as being extremely cocky. Especially compared to her teammates responses. For example, “Aggressive”, “overpowering” and “Exciting” were used (Bechtel).

    In October of 2015, Hope Solo was accused of domestic violence. This accusation was made by her 17 year old niece. Claiming that this isn’t true, Hope explains that it was in fact her that was hurt by her niece. Around 9 months after, it was declared that Hope was not guilty (Solo). Although she admits to regretting her relationship with her niece, it’s clear that Solo doesn’t make very smart decisions. Many of her decisions, in fact, are very severe and have caused multiple suspensions.

    During the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Hope Solo was very determined to win another gold for Team USA. Her head is in the game, but also with her fans. As shown in the photo, Solo always makes time to appreciate her fans, even if it is simply an autograph. Solo even allows this fan, who is wearing a replica of her jersey, to kiss her head ("Solo"). Some athletes may not appreciate being touched by strangers. But Hope Solo is taking in all the love and also giving it back.

    At the Rio Olympics Team USA didn’t make it as far as they hoped. Losing to Sweden, Hope Solo was extremely upset. In an interview after the game, Solo claims that the Swedish were a bunch of “cowards” and didn’t deserve the game (Kreps). Obviously this is an example poor sportsmanship, but Solo goes out of her way to express her opinion to the press. Solo is suppose to be a role model for the team, being the goalkeeper, and her opinions cause the team to look very childish.
