    Hitler was a very charismatic man. He promised Germany a better life and power for Germany. Hitler eliminated political rivals to be head of the Nazis. Rising popularity of Nazi forces Hindenburg to five him some power.

  • Enabling Act

    Gives power of decision making to Hitler. Within a few months, all other political parties besides the Nazis were eliminated. This allowed Hitler to get rid of all his rivals. At this time, we see an official boycott of Jewish businesses as well.

    Allowed the Nazis to see who is Jewish or not.

    -Forbade Jews from marrying non-Jews
    -Cannot fly national fly
    -Punishments included fines, imprisonment and hard labor
    (Eventually many more discrimination laws would be put in place building on this one)

    An event where the German government orders there citizens and police to burn and destroy Jewish stores and synagogue's.

    Ammunition is being wasted. Word spreads that people are being killed by the einsatzgruppen. Death Camps would not have blood and shooting people will have blood.

    As the army advanced into the Soviet Union, these groups would round up Jews from the newly occupied areas and kill them... Usually by shooting. The largest mass-killing by einsatzgruppen on record was at Babi Yar in Ukraine. 33,000 people were killed in just under 2 days.

    -SS troops arrested and deported residents after uprising ended

    After stealing weapons from guards, prisoners tried to escape. Most were killed but a few dozen made it out and survived the war.
    Auschwitz- Birkenau
    Members of the Sonderkommando working in the crematorium fought SS guards killing over 70, but all 250 as well as 200 others were killed in response.

    -Brutal treatment and harsh conditions along the way

  • Liberation of Concentration Camps

    The United Stats and other Allies liberated all of the concentration camps and freed all of the Jews.

    Camps in Europe were being liberated by the Soviets, Americans, the British, and the other Allies. The Nazi's are running to Germany and leaving prisoners behind.

    Hitler commits suicide rather than face capture by the Soviet Red Army Germany surrenders within a week.

    When Mr Frank comes back he is in disbelief. All Mr Frank sees is the attic empty and everything is on the ground. Anne Franks diary was so meaningful to people is because it tells the struggles of Anne's family.
