  • Hitler becomes Chancellor Of Germany

    The chancellor is the head of the goverment and is the equivalent of the Prime Minister or President.
  • Dachau Opened

    Dachau was the first concentration camp and was located in Munich, Germany. It opened a short two months after Hitler is elected chancellor. 243,000 people were murdered in Dachau.
  • Boycott of Jewish businesses

    After the Nazi party came to power in Germany, the Nazi leadership decided to stage an economic boycott against Jews. This event was claimed to be the defensive reaction to a Jewish boycott of German goods that was quickly abandoned.
  • Nuremberg Laws

    At the annual party rally held in Nuremberg in 1935, the Nazis announced new laws which institutionalized many of the racial theories prevalent in Nazi ideology. The laws excluded German Jews from Reich citizenship and prohibited them from marrying or having sexual relations with persons of "German or related blood."
  • Kristallnacht/ "The night of Broken Glass"

    A massive, coordinated attack on Jews throughout the German Reich. Thousands of synagogues, businesses, and cemeteries were destroyed. The event was in response to the murder of a German diplomat by a Jewish teen. Police/firemen were only instructed to interfere if the terror was spreading to non-jewish establishments.

    The invasion of Poland was the joint invasion was a joint invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany, the Free City of Danzig, the Soviet Union, and a small Slovak contingent, that marked the beginning of World War II in Europe.
  • Establishment of Auschwitz

    Auschwitz, also known as Auschwitz-Birkenau, opened in 1940 and was the largest of the Nazi concentration and death camps. Located in southern Poland, Auschwitz initially served as a detention center for political prisoners. However, it evolved into a network of camps where Jewish people and other perceived enemies of the Nazi state were exterminated, often in gas chambers, or used as slave labor. Some prisoners were also subjected to barbaric medical experiments led by Josef Mengele (1911-79).

    The "final solution" was the nazi plan to exterminate all Jewish people. The official beginning of this event is uncertain.
