In 1919, after WW1 ended, the Treaty of Versailles was created and signed. This punished Germany by forcing them to pay reparations, surrender land, and surrender its military.

The Weimar did not have a lot of support from the military, and they operated independently from each other meaning military support was conditional. The Weimar constitution got blamed for weakening the democracy, after Article 41 was passed and allowed the president to override the constitution.

In 1921, Hitler joined the German worker party and helped make the 25-point program, and became the leader. The program was formed with extreme nationalist and anti semitism ideals because of resentment for the Treaty of Versailles.

In 1923, Hitler went to jail after Munich Putsch. This was when Hitler and the Nazi party wanted to get rid of the Weimar constitution by attempting to overthrow the government. This resulted in Hitler being put in jail which allowed him and his party to gain attention and support.

In 1925, Hitler published his book, Mein Kampf which means "my struggle", which he wrote during his time in prison. The book describes Hitler's ideologies, talks about his earlier life and time as a soldier, outlines his plans for Germany in the future, and goes in depth on his hatred to Jews. He aimed to take over Eastern Europe, and kick Jews out of the country.

In 1933, after the Nazi party gained a lot of support and became the most powerful political party, Hitler was appointed chancellor. With the growing support for the NSDAP and KDP, Hindenburg felt pressure to appoint Hitler chancellor. This later led to him forming his dictatorship because of Article 41 of the Weimar constitution which allowed Hitler to overrule the government at anytime.

In 1934, after Hindenberg died, allowing Hitler to become Fuhrer. As Fuhrer, Hitler assumed absolute control by combining his authority as chancellor and Fuhrer meaning he had all the power, which led to him becoming a dictator.
