Sing Quock travels with Hanson and Hanloy to Lum Shee's village to honor her. According to traditional custom, her clothes were to be dressed on a dummy and be burned to release her spirit in her hometown.

Sing Quock managed to secure a flight on Philippines Airlines to San Francisco via Honolulu, Hawaii. Coming back by aircraft meant that all their gifts purchased from Japan, Shanghai, and Hong Kong had to be left behind.

Through a family member he selected Choi Fung (Pearl) Kum. She was born in Sun Duck, Kwantung, China in 1933. However, she migrated to Hong Kong where my grandfather met her.

Pearl's family immigrated from Hong Kong to San Francisco. When they arrived in San Francisco, Sing provided them work at Hong Sang Market and housing. Sing grandfather was happy to assist Pearl’s family and did so without hesitation.

Sing moved to an assisted living facility in Alameda, CA.

During his stay in Oakland, Sing met with Marie-Louise Ansak, a social worker, who told him about the new facilities soon to be opened in San Francisco Chinatown. She promised him a place in this facility on Powell Street.

The couple divorced after 24 years of marriage.

The dinner was held at the Asian Garden Restaurant at 772 Pacific Ave in San Francisco Chinatown. The entire family attended and there were several hundred guests including his siblings, Hoy Quan, Fat Quan, Lin Lee, and Johnny.
