  • French soldiers occupy Vietnam.

    The French decide to colonize Vietnam and they control the zone now (French Indochina)
  • Ho Chi Minh, later Vietnam’s “prime minister”, founded the Indochinese Communist party.

  • France still controlled Vietnam and European colonies occupied it.

  • The Indochinese Communist party starts preparing for attacks and arranges the “Viet Minh”, Guerrilla forces for war.

  • Attacks begin between the European Colonies and the Indochinese Communist party.

  • Ho Chi Minh becomes Prime Minister.

  • The Guerrilla Forces stopped the attacks.

  • Ho Chi Minh declares Vietnam's Independence.

  • The Guerrilla Forces are attacked by the French.

  • China became communist and this influenced Vietnam.

  • The USSR and China consider Vietnam a “Democratic Republic”.

  • After the Geneva Conference, Vietnam is separated into South and North.

  • The French are defeated again at the battle of Dien Bien Phu.

  • The Viet Minh (Guerrilla Forces) attack a near French outpost.

  • Ho Chi Minh became President and finished his rule in 1969.
