By the beginning of 1970 nearly every house owner owned one or more cars. in 1971 there were around 7,000-8,000 fatalities on the roads. Cars being invented is very popular due to many people traveling inbound using cars.

The Boeing 747 is a worldwide commercial airline, which is also called Jumbo jet. The Boeing 747 was the first air plane called a "Jumbo Jet". The 747 was able to carry 490 passengers. The largest plane for travelling in Britain was the 747, this plane was allowing 100's of passengers at a time to travel outbound.

The Concorde was the world's first scheduled supersonic passenger service.The Concorde on the 26th of September 1973 made its first transatlantic crossing. One of the benefits of the Concorde was that it reduce the time of air travel meaning people were travelling to there destinations faster. However the Concorde plane did stop running due to it being to loud and expensive to operate.

Ryanair first flew on the 8th of July 1985, which was a 15 seater plane. When Ryanair first launched there first ever cabin crew had to be under 5ft 2ins. The aircraft would operator daily travelling to Waterford in the southeast of Ireland to London Gatwick. Before the company was called Ryanair airs in 1984 it was called Danren Enterprises. Ryanair is now a very popular company in 2023 as the company grew and expanded.

But in the 1980's package holidays grew meaning it was more affordable to travel. Thomson, Horizon and Instasun was very popular for promoting package holidays.

Tim Berners- lee was the creator of the worldwide web he was a British scientist. this allowed so many be to find a variety of different resources and information on the worldwide web. This also allowed people to advise brands and products to promote companies. This had a huge impact on the travel and tourism industry due to people being able to see about different flights and places to travel to. They could also look at the news to the country they are travelling to and see if its safe.

In 1994 EasyJet was launched in the UK, however in was founded in 1994. EasyJet's first aircraft was the Boeing 737-200 which was able to sit 130 passengers. This has impacted the travel industry as it is now a big company that many people use everyday meaning it allows more people to travel inbound, outbound and domestic.

The Channel tunnel was one of the biggest engineering projects in the UK. It is the longest undersea tunnel in the world. Around 4.5 million UK tourists use the Channel Tunnel every year. This had an impact on the travel and tourism industry due in people being able to travel outbound in there cars and workers being able to ship clothes, foods and etc over instead of going by plane.

The timeline from 1996-2016 had two popular destinations to travel to which were Spain and France, too this day they are still very popular to travel too. Spain however is very popular to travel to the percentage of people who travel to Spain increase to 87% in 20 years due to plane fees being cheap. This had an impact on the travel industry due to companies making more of profit for selling holidays.

On the 11th of September 2001 Newyork faced a horrifying terrorist attack happened were many lives were lost killing nearly 3000 people. 9/11 had a significant impact on the travel and tourism industry. It led to more security measures being put in place when travelling. Air travel became more stricter by having screening, metal detectors, bag search and more. People were more hesitant to travel meaning the travel industry took a decline.

In 2004 Indiana ocean had an earthquake and a tsunami which effected 14 countries that were popular to travel to. Due to the earthquake and tsunami being so strong it damaged and destroyed so many different areas leading to a decease in tourist arrival. Approximately 230,000 people lost there lives when this happened. Due to this being very serious many people were shocked and scared to travel in Indiana. Over a long period of time areas were fixed so people had homes and more tourist came back.

Global trade decreased by 15% between 2008 and 2009, almost collapsing. Between 2007 and 2010, the rate of unemployment increased globally by 3%, resulting in an astonishing 30 million jobs being destroyed. This meant for travel agency and airlines there was a huge risk in jobs being lost.

You can see different peoples rating, reviews and peoples personal experiences in their accommodations. Trip advisor has been growing and improving in 2015 they had achieved 320 million reviews on there site. This has had an impact on other people due to them being able to see other people personal experience's before booking an accommodation.

Icelandic had a volcano erupt causing huge ash clouds causing the country to be polluted of ash. The eruption was only small but it had a massive impact on Europe air travel. This meant planes that went over Icelandic could not go ahead to to them not being able to see through the ash. This caused a lot of chaos. As this went on for 3 months people not being able to fly, or even see the sky properly.

Game of thrones is a very popular show that many people have watched. Game of thrones is known to been filmed in many different beautiful locates like Spain, Morocco, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Dark Hedges, Ballintoy, Castle Ward and Northern Ireland. Due to many people being huge fans of the show many people started travelling around to these places where they were filmed meaning they became very popular and bringing in more tourists.

Covid 19 was first discovered in China in 2019 and spread very quick worldwide. This illness caused the whole world to go into a lockdown meaning everyone was on stand still. Covid 19 had a huge impact on people, jobs, travelling and socializing due to everyone having to isolate. Covid 19 had a massive impact on the travel and tourism industry due travel restrictions being put in place. This led to a significant decline in the travel and tourism industry.
