  • Australian colonies got right to govern themselves

    From 1850 austrailan colonies were given the right to govern themselves through there own parliaments . those parliaments made laws about who could vote and whou could not. It was usual for the colonial laws to say all men above the age of 21 years could vote in elections. Indigenous men were not specifically denied the right to vote, but, in practice, they weren't encouraged to enrol to vote.
