In order to compete with Apple, Samsung released it's own tablet. It was called the Samsung Galaxy Tab and ran on an Android operating system. Similarly to Apple, Samsung has also developed multiple generations of the device.

Blackberry releases it's own competitor to Apple and Samsung's respective tablets. Unlike the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Blackberry Playbook does not prove to be as successful as hoped, and Apple continued to dominate the tablet market.

MIcrosoft introduces a newer "hybrid" model of a tablet. It includes a detachable keyboard in order to include the benefits of both a laptop and a tablet. Microsoft tries to increase sales by luring people away from buying laptops and attempts to increase their sales by introducing a "best of both worlds" option.
