Made by Henry Ford, this automobile allowed more room for more family members to be present. It allowed families to go from one town, state, or city in a faster motion. Allowing more time for families. -
Hair Dryers
While many see this as not helpful to families or have a huge impact on them, this simple invention kept young children from getting sick due to wet hair. -

Blenders were a new way for families to make juice and other beverages. As well as mixing other items while baking and cooking. -

Microwave ovens made it easier to cook meals in the family home. This could be seen as a time management saver. -

This was a quick way for parents, usually mother's to feed their family. It had in interesting impact on the health of young children. -
First Credit Card
This allowed families access to items they couldn't afford at the time. Thanks to the credit card, families were able to buy items such as gas stoves, and pay over a period of time. This was helpful and harmful to household management. Helpful in the fact they could now buy what they needed but harmful in the fact that a lot of families ended up with credit card debt. -
First Video Recorder
This was a way for households to record memorial moments. This effected household management in many ways. Some being: more time was spent recording than doing chores and memories can now be shared with relatives who live elsewhere. -
UNIVAC First Commercial Computer
This was a learning opportunity for the nations. With this discovery kids would soon be introduced to household computers which would have a huge impact on household management. -
Transistor Radio
This portable radio allowed individuals to listen to radio stations and baseball games. This allowed them to keep current in what was going on around them. -
First Nonstick Pan
This pan was a miracle worker in the baking and cooking sense. Family members no longer had to spend time scraping off cooked food in order to get the pan cleaned and ready for the next use. -
Salk Vaccine Impact on Polio
There is no direct impact on household management but more of an impact on the human nation as a whole. People were no longer worried about their loved ones being diagnosed with Polio. Household members had to work more outside of the home to afford the vaccine, especially those with more than two kids. -
Tetracycline Invented
This antibiotic was used to cure a number of bacterial infections. This allowed sick family members to feel better quicker and gets them back to their chores and their roles in the household. -
First Computer Disk
This allowed data to be saved from one computer to the next. It would eventually have an impact on education and would lead to flash drives and other memory storing devices. -

This has no direct impact on household management, rather it has an effect on those who make up the household. One's who had heart problems now had a way of gaining more time to spend with their families and "groom" the next in-line to take over the family household or family business. -

This had the potential to save many lives. Sadly, it did not last long in the science of medicine, as one who received it only lived for 300 days after the surgery. This had the potential to keep families together by saving loved ones. -
Birth Control Patch
This gave the choice to women as to how many kids they wanted and when they wanted (hopefully). While not 100% accurate it allows married/single couples the ability to not worry about having kids accidentally. The effect it has on household management is small. -
Electric Car
Electric cars allow a more economic way of traveling. It can help families save money by not requiring the use of gas. -
Facebook
Many hours have been spent on Facebook. Parents, children, siblings, have all spent time on this social media outlet. It has allowed families to stay in touch, especially when they live in different states. Negative effects include an increase of cyber bullying. A small effect on household management is that more time is spent on Facebook than on maintaining household chores/duties. -
Amazon Kindle
As one who has a kindle, I can say this did impact the household management style in homes. Many individuals spent more time reading than doing the part in maintaining the home, this resulted in other's having to do twice the housework in order to keep the home maintained. -
iPhone
iPhones are another tool used by young individuals. It's a tool used to keep track of your family members and to keep track of who's doing what. It can act as one's schedule and planner to keep order of what the members of the household are doing and where they need to be at a certain time. -
iPad
The iPad allows a new way of learning for young children and adults. It has a unique affect on household management. When one is cooking dinner and doesn't know how to do something required the iPad is a way to look up and learn. That's just one of many ways an iPad can be beneficial to families and management. -
First Notebook
The first notebook was a lighter/smaller version of laptops. It allows students to complete and organize their homework. For household management it may be used to create the calendar of chores/housework that each member is to complete for the week or month. -
Hydrogen Fueled Cars
This allows for a better economy for future families. -
Automation Houses
By the end of the 21st century, houses may be completely run by technology. People would no longer be responsible for maintaining the household items related to cleaning, cooking, or laundry.
