It made managing host information more easier as the number of users and networks connected to the internet increases at an unimaginable rate. -
Internet Worm Shuts Down Internet Servers
10% of the world's internet servers were shut down because of a virus called the "Internet Worm" or "Morris Worm". It was created by Robert Tappan Morris when he was in university. He was the first person convicted under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Later in life, he made important contributions to the internet world. -
MP3 devised
MPEG1, or MPEG2 Layer III is an file extension for audio format created by Fraunhofer Institut of Germany. It was shortened to MP3 by Brandenburg and his team. MPEG stands for "Motion Picture Experts Group". -

Google Invented!
Google was officially made for public use. It was first created by two university students, Sergey Brin and Larry Page. It was first called BackRub, and was changed to Google when the results they retrieved involved shifting through numerous amounts of information, as "googol" which is a mathmatic term meaning 1 with 100 zeros behind it. -

Creative Commons was created by Aaron Swartz, co-creator of RSS. Under the leadership of Lawrence Lessig, a professor of Harvard Law School, Creative Commons helps minimize barriers to sharing and reusing research/educational materials. -

MyDoom, or Novarg, is an internet worm that invaded the internet servers infecting 1 of every 12 emails that was sent. It mainly infected Microsoft Windows and targeted SCO Group. It is the fastest-spreading email worm ever recorded and the creator is still in the dark. The July 2009 attacks on United States and South Korea is a varient of MyDoom. -
YouTube Invented
World's largest media streaming site is created. It was originally meant for easier video sharing. It was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim and was purchased by Google in 2006. -
Coding error causes vulnerbility to mass internet users!
OpenSSL, an encryption software for millions of banks and companies, discovered an error in the code. The error caused vulnerbilities in stolen passwords, usernames and personal information. OpenSSL was responsible for safe transitions. It advised all users to change their passwords after fixing the error, which occured sometime in 2012.
