    In 1848, a group of representatives and students from Cambridge had the great idea to draw up a definitive set of rules. Lots of copies of the rules were pinned up in the trees of Parkers piece which surrounded the huge open park in the centre of Cambridge. It was the most popular place for matches and kicking a ball about. These rules started to pick up and became known and recognised threw places close to Cambridge and even places further afield.
