  • Period: Jan 17, 1450 to

    Witch hunt

    During this period, many people were accused of witchcraft and killed by the stake. Between february 1692 and may 1693, there was the Salem trial which condamned 20 people and they were killed because they were witches. Between 1500 and 2000 "witches" has been killed during this period.
    That hunt revealed a foster panic and massive hysteria in the country.
  • Pilgrim fathers take the Mayflower

    Pilgrim fathers take the Mayflower
    The Pilgrim fathers departed from Southampton in England and went to the New World (United States). They just arrived so there was no president.
    They decided to take a boat named Mayflower to cross the Atlantic ocean. They were fleeing their country because of religious persecutions from the Church. They wanted to separate themselves from religion.
    The Pilgrim fathers build a new town called Plymouth where their boat arrived.

    In 1621, the Pilgrim Fathers did a Harvest feast after a successful growing season. At this date they ate turkey and corn mostly. President Abraham Lincoln decided to make a national holiday of this day named Thanksgiving. It is for this reason that Americans eat turkey for Thanksgiving. A bit information about Thanksgiving
  • Native Americans massacre

    Captain John Smith told in his book that a population of Powhatan came in Jamestown. They brought food to sell to the new Americans but they found weapons and they killed a lot of people including women and children. The town destroyed, the survivors had to leave it. After that and to revenge the 300 english killed, they poisoned the corn for Powhatans and give them. Approximately 200 Indians died from this.

    War of Independance

    This war opposed the thirteen colonies of North America and Great Britain. It permitted to the colonies having authority and creation of United States of America. British call the americans "insurgents" or "patriots". The army of insurgents is led by George Washington who will become the first President of United States. This revolution speed up the European revolutions. The national day in USA is the day of Independance on July 4th.

    Constitution accepted
    The Constitution came into force in 1789 with the First President of United States George Washington. The Constitution has been amended 27 times and the 10 first are also known as the Bill of Rights. People wrote it after USA independance because it is a fully country.

    The following president of Slave Trade

    There was successive different presidents during Slave trade. First was George Washington followed by John Adams, then Tomas Jefferson, James Madison, Monroe, John Q. Adams, Andrew Jackson,Martin van Buren, William Harrison, John Tyler, James Polk, Zachary Taylor, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan and to finish Abraham Lincoln (first republican and against slavery).

    Slave Trade

    The slave Trade began with the culture of cotton. Most of the slaves were in Kentucky, Tennessee. Then, in april 8th of 1864, Republicans decided to abolish slavery. The slaves were mostly from Africa and took boats in the Atlantic. At the end, approximately 4 millions of slaves have been released. In 1865, an amendment appeared to abolish slavery from Constitution.

    2nd Amendment adopted with the others Bill of Rights but this amendment were voted in 1789
  • First handgun

    First handgun
    Samuel Colt invented the first weapon that could be fired several times without having to reload. This the first handgun called Colt Paterson.
    The president at this date was Andrew Jackson.
    Colt created his factury Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company and made the mass production of revolver business.
